Look at the picture of the child below. Please write down some thoughts describing the child and in addition please analyze the overall picture. What would ost people in society say about the picture?
The photo is black and white and the child is wearing old styles of clothing so this was obviously taken along time ago. I also noticed she's not smiling. I believe the reason for this is because back then children weren't allowed to have a childhood because they were just treated like small adults. People in society today would say that this was unfair to children and deprived them.
It is evident that this photo was taken a long time ago, since it is not in color. Maybe it was from the 20s or 30s because of the clothing the girl is wearing. Moreover, the child appears to be depressed and almost helpless. Perhaps, this is because at this time children were undergoing harmful labor conditions and weren't always part of a good socioeconomic class. Today, society would have pity for this child and would want her to be happy.
The picture of the young girl is apparently from an older time, considering the color. As other people mentioned, she's also not smiling which is normal. Most pictures from older times depict people frowning instead of smiling. If anything it's just a social norm from the past, now in a picture we're asked to smile but previously that might not have been the case.
The picture was taken a long time ago, and though most people don't realize it, the child in that picture is a boy. He's in a dress,he has long hair and is wearing dress shoes. Today, No one would ever try to guess it is a boy. If you were to cover the picture from the neck down, you could see it's a boy by looking at his face, but as soon as someone sees a dress, they assume it's a girl.

The girl looks like shes been forced to take the picture because of her facial expression, she does not look happy. She might have been unhappy because she had to wear that whole outfit and she was forced to take the picture.

I also think the child wasn't very happy, maybe from the child labor laws back then. She also has a very blank stare on her face almost as if she's saying "help me".
