  1. American's celebrate holidays such as Christmas, Hanukkah, Easter, etc. We shoot off fireworks on the fourth of July and wear red, white and blue to represent our country. Most people who live here speak English, although we don't have a set language or religion. In my family my mom cooks a lot of Irish food because I'm Irish and German, Italian too but i don't really count that because I don't look Italian and we don't celebrate the culture.

  2. I am an Italian-American, and as a result I do have a diverse culture. To begin with, my mom always cooks pasta on Sundays, and the whole family gets together and eats relatively early. Moreover, I go to Church every Christmas morning. Next, I also enjoy watching television and playing videogames with my friends. Some of my other hobbies are playing basketball, football, and playing music with my friends. Luckily, an American culture is pretty much unlimited, and you have the freedom to do many things. In addition, because I am Italian, Thanksgiving, Easter, and other holidays are filled with food and family. Finally, I choose to listen to "American" music, such as: rock, rap, and many other types. I am proud of my culture and always ready to expand on my values.

  4. Americans come together on certain days of the year and celebrate the significance. An example would be Christmas. Christmas for Americans is the birth of Christ. Another example would be the 4th of July. On the 4th of July we all come together to celebrate our independence, there are usually fireworks set off. Americans are ethnically diverse. I am also Italian. Having a big italian family, we always come together and have a huge feast. It may be on sundays or holidays.

  5. As an American me and my family celebrate all the holidays. We celebrate New Years by having a family party and we all watch the ball drop together. For Memorial Day me and my family go to my grandmas house and have a bbq. For the 4th of July we have a bbq, wear red, white and blue, and watch fireworks. For Halloween we all ge dressed up and visit every house in our neighborhood. Thanksgiving and Christmas we celebrate at my grandmas and she cooks us meals and buys us all presents. My grandma is Italian so every Sunday we go to her house and eat dinner together, she cooks pasta, meatballs, and chicken cutlets.

  6. In our American Culture, we have alot of celebrations in our heritage such as birthdays , Halloween, Christmas, New years Eve, and 4th of July. When we celebrate these different holidays, we are always with family and remembering how we are all lucky to have one another to share our stories of the past, and to listen to different music in different languages. Cooking is very important in every country!

  8. As Americans we celebrate many holidays like Christmas to celebrate Jesus, Halloween for trick or treating and the 4th of july where family and friends come over for barbeques and we wear patriotic clothing. With my Italian Irish heritage on Christmas theres a lot of fish and meats to satisfy everyone at the table and on St. Patricks day my whole family gets together to celebrate with cornbeef and cabbage and lots of Irish music

  9. American culture is very diverse. We pretty much celebrate or at least honor holidays from almost every culture. We have a bunch of different ethnic parades such as the West Indian Parade, Puerto Rican day parade, etc. We have our own holidays such as the 4th of July when people go to the beach or have barbecues. And there's also Thanksgiving when we spend time with family and have a huge dinner and be thankful for everything. I am mostly Puerto Rican so my family does things a little differently. We always have a lot of rice and beans with chicken, all the time. People that live in Puerto Rico also don't celebrate Christmas on December 25th for the most part, its celebrated on January 6th. So I'll get Christmas presents but I'll get at least one gift on January 6th because of our traditions. Dancing is also a part of my heritage because everyone in my family including myself can dance salsa and my mom is always blasting Spanish music whenever we're home alone.

  10. As a Jamaican, our language is known as patois which is broken down English with the Jamaican accent. On special holidays there is sorrel and black cake to eat. The food that we eat is jerk chicken, jerk pork, festival, ackee and salt fish and more. The type of music we listen to is reggae with artists like Jah Cure, Beenie Man, Mavado, Konshens, Bob Marley, etc. and we dance to dancehall reggae. There are two different religions, Pocomania and Rastafarianism which is more popular and are known with the people with dreads or locks. There is something called nine nights which is a celebration of someone's life instead of mourning their death.

The Bajan side of me specialty food is cuckoo and flying fish. Bajans favorite game to play is dominoes and cricket or love to watch horseback riding races. Barbados music is mixed with reggae, soca and calypso. There is a celebration called Crop-Over which is the the end of the sugar cane harvest and Kadooment Day which is the most popular part of the crop over where people wear costumes.

  11. Part of the American culture is watching fireworks on the fourth of July and having turkey and stuffing for Thanksgiving dinner. There's also the diversity of the music that people listen to. The Italian side of my family has Sunday dinner, and for Christmas we celebrate more on Christmas Eve than on the actual day. There's also "the horn" which is suppose to keep away the evil eye, as long as we have it somewhere on our person.

  12. A part of American culture would be eating tons of disgusting food, or being glued to the TV. Even our slang terms can be considered a unique part of our culture. The way we dress is also identifiable, some men where their pants way down low, while women wear tighter clothes, trying to accentuate certain aspects of their body. In other cultures this can be seen as a bad thing.

Because I'm Italian, we have pasta every Sunday. And on bigger holiday's we eat around 1:00/2:00 pm. During Christmas my mom makes all the favorites: lasagna, chicken parm, calamari, ect. My mom also likes to randomly slip Italian into regular conversation, which is the for most Americanized Italians.

Also, considering that I'm German my mom makes Schnitzel and German potato salad every so often.

And finally because we have some Irish in us, on St. Patrick's Day my mom makes corned beef and hash. The same with how on Columbus day we cook all Italian food.

  15. America is a democracy-the people vote. Americans have food like hot dogs and hamburgers, and sports like baseball and football. We celebrate holidays like Thanksgiving, labor day, and memorial day. The drinking age in America is 21. American English has a lot of slang, such as "whats up". In America, we have people of all religions and people from other countries, and it is called the "melting pot" of cultures because it is so diverse.

  16. As an American I celebrate all the holidays through out the seasons. Christmas is where my whole family comes together and eats mostly fish and meat. The same goes for Easter, and thanksgiving. From my Italian heritage we all get together on Sunday's and eat an early dinner with each other. 19. My heritage is Turkish and my culture is not too different from American culture. We do have holidays that Americans don't follow of course but Turkish people have a huge amount of hospitality. They are always trying to help eachother out in any way possible. For Turkish people it is huge that you have something Turkish to eat, so my mother makes Turkish food every night. Turkish people take pride in their culture and their country. Many Turks who immigrated to the united states are now going back home because Turkey has one of the fastest growing economies in the world today. One big Turkish tradition is to have a huge community gathering on fathers day. During this gathering a picnic is held for everyone and their are many activities for children.
